Gallery One in Ocean View, DE is pleased to announce their first show for 2012 called "Winter Wonderland." Over the ages artists continue to challenge themselves to develop works that are a reaction to ideas and experiences of their lifetimes. The Theme "Winter Wonderland" suggests a particular season that might have a mystery or a sense of interest captivates the artist.

Tara Funk Grim has painted a fleeting moment in "Winter in Wonderland". In this mixed medium piece Ms. Grim shows light at the end of day on a mountain just before darkness sets in. The snow is glowing. This work has a generous layering of textures and colors.

Enjoying the local landscape in winter is the subject for "Winter Watch" by Lesley Mc Caskill. This watercolor is a study of cool colors and the activity of the ocean contrasted by a relaxed couple sitting on a boardwalk bench. A scene the artist has experienced.

The boardwalk is also the backdrop for Laura Hichman's pastel, "Bethany Snowman" which show the quietness of the off-season. Not one foot print on the snow covered "boards", yet we know people have been here for someone has built happy face snowman sitting on a bench.

A drive-on to the ocean is the subject of Dale Sheldon's painting, "After the Snow". The viewer experiences thick paint which adds to the image of a path with deep indentations left by tires curving through the snow up the dune to an opening where a sliver of the ocean is visible.

Falling snow softening a landscape is portrayed by Pat Riordan in her watercolor "Cabin in the Woods". Evergreens peek in and out of snowflakes giving a mystical feeling.

Sue Spencer has again painted a beautiful figure study in her "Ice Dreams" an oil of a young ice skater who gracefully balances on one foot with arms outstretched enjoying the cool fresh air.

"Brr" is delightful oil by Joyce Condry. The creamy light lavender background in this work exhibits the crisp temperature when snow has just fallen. The subject is singular English Robin that seems to enjoy itself with a puffy breast standing at attention on a snowed branch.

Visitors are welcomed to come to Gallery One and see the work of all sixteen exhibiting artists. And to visit the popular Artesian Room visitors will find new work by potters; Wes Stack and Carmella Coleman, amazing fiber work by: Jill Thomas, Deborah Lewis-Idema and Barbara Warden, jewelry by Fay Kempton and interesting digital photography by Kevin Fleming, and unique beautifully crafted wood pieces by Mary Costa.
