The Sky’s the Limit

September 3, 2025

No restrictions, boundless possibilities …“The Sky’s
the Limit” for the artists of Gallery One this month! For
Artist Cindy Beyer in her pastel painting, “Reflections
of Stillness,” the theme was both literal and
metaphorical, “I have always wanted to paint a
nocturnal water scene, highlighting the night sky.  The
stillness of the water in Anegada BVI really spotlights
the reflections of the boat’s lighting which drew me to
paint this picture.  I wish I was there, maybe someday
I will take a month off to sail the Islands.  The sky is
the limit!” Artist Ed Lewandowski is also drawn to the
sky at night, in his abstract painting, “Sturgeon Moon”;

Ed was inspired by August’s “Sturgeon Moon”; to create
a nocturne of the rising moon over a farm field with a
path running through it.”

The sky is, strictly speaking, an unobstructed view
upward from the surface of the earth. But for artists
Lesley McCaskill, Dale Sheldon, and Joyce Condry,
this month the sky is a work of art in itself. In
McCaskill’s acrylic, “Hello Sky,” the sun rises over the
ocean in the morning and reflects the clouds and ocean
and land, it is a spectacular sight! In Dale Sheldon’s
“Flight Over the Canal” in acrylic, clear blue skies with
a few white clouds make this a tranquil and picturesque
scene.” While Condry’s acrylic painting, “Good
Morning Delmarva,” dazzles us with the kaleidoscope
of colors our eastern shore skies offer. Each one, each
morning, is an original scene.

Sometimes the sky is more than just a sky. In artist
Laura Hickman’s pastel, “Looking West,” the sky
portends the coming winter. While in Eileen Olson’s
acrylic painting, “Nordic Sky,” we both see and feel

the tender light of the northern sky, cold yet kind, infinite yet nearby.

A sky that does not simply watch but remembers.

We hope you’ll explore the boundless opportunities
with a stop by Gallery One this month. The Sky’s the
Limit. Gallery One is open Daily from 10am to 5pm.
