June Theme Wall- Travelogue

June 3, 2026

Gallery One invites the public to embark on a visual journey, with a compelling new exhibit that explores the essence of travel- not just across geography but through memory, atmosphere and personal experience.

Europe is well represented, with six artists choosing to paint memories of their trips there.  Laura Hickman chose Marbella, Spain as she depicts colorful fishing boats that appear as  colorful as a work of art, in her pastel, “Fishing Boats, Marbella”. Jill Glassman also did a pastel, “The Hills Are O’live”, but of the hills in Umbria, Italy, with the olive trees, gnarled and twisted with age. Wine tasting in Porto, Portugal was the memory Joyce Condry portrays in her acrylic painting, “Wine Tasting in Porto”. Memories of the start of a July hike up the Vosges Mountains in the Alsace region of France is depicted in Ed Lewandowski’s oil painting, “Above Equisheim“.  You can get a feel for the town of Avignon, France with it’s meandering streets and narrow passageways in Cheryl Wisbrock’s watercolor, “Old Town Avignon. Donna Brumberg also gives the viewer a true sense of the city of Heidelberg, Germany in her oil painting, “Out-of-Towners”, which celebrates both the beauty of new places and the unforgettable connections that travel brings. The fleeting moments of light skipping across the sea’s surface in the French Riviera from sun bleached cerulean to deep cobalt was captured by Eileen Olson in her Oil and Cold Wax piece, “La Mer En Fete”.

While on an African Safari, Dale Sheldon was captivated with seeing so many beautiful animals in their own habitat. The zebras caught her eye with their patterns of stripes, unique to each one, in her acrylic painting, “All in Black and White”.
Closer to home, Cindy Beyer reminisces about staying at the Chanler Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island in her pastel, “Cliff Walk”, where you can see for miles while strolling the famous walk.  “Into the Twilight”, an oil painting by John Schisler, invites feelings of peaceful surrender, quiet wonder, and a touch of hopeful mystery about what the gathering night might reveal. In her acrylic painting “Maui State of Mind”, Laurie Fields remembers the warmth, peace and beauty of
that special island.
