John Schisler (b. 1972, Baltimore, MD) is an award-winning painter working in classical/contemporary realism. Trained at the Conrad Miller Studio in Fells Point, he specializes in Maroger mediums and the techniques of the Dutch Masters. Schisler handcrafts his own black oil—the historic lead-based medium used by Titian, Rubens, and Rembrandt—mixing it with pure pigments to achieve exceptional depth, luminosity, and brilliance.
