New Show, “Imagine That”

“Imagine That”, a new art exhibition celebrating curiosity, creativity and the limitless nature of imagination will open at Gallery One in Ocean View, DE on September 2, 2026. The show will challenge familiar perspectives and encourage visitors to see the everyday in unexpected ways.

Several artists chose to use older houses as the inspiration for their paintings. Dale Sheldon, in her pastel “Burton Cottages”, depicts “Rehoboth Beach’s “Shaw Park” (what is now “Grove Park”) which had trailers and little cottages in the early 1900’s. Later the cottages were moved to nearby Columbia Avenue and were there until they were removed. Drexler Cottage built in Bethany Beach in the early 1900’s is shown in Laura Hickman’s pastel, where she imagines what it would be like to have lived in it when it was new. A quiet rural road gathers the last light of day, inviting viewers into a moment suspended in imagination in Ed Lewandowski’s oil painting “Dusk On A Country Road.”

Nature was the platform used by Cindy Beyer in her watercolor “Bloom Boom”, where she leaves it to the viewers imagination to determine what kind of flowers she has painted. In her acrylic painting “Flamingo Dancers”, Joyce Condry imagines flamingos to be ballerinas with their long legs and graceful necks, all wearing pink tutus.  Several years ago Lesley McCaskill planted a garden after her grand daughter, Lily was born.  The Lillies multiplied and dragon flies flocked to the garden, fluttering like Fairies dancing, depicted in her acrylic painting, “Summer Garden”.

Eileen Olson states that when she paints her abstracts they are all imagined in her head, as shown in her acrylic piece “Imagine”. In her oil painting, “Softies”, Donna Brumbergs paints her granddaughter’s stuffed animals, showing “something truly magical about seeing childhood through her eyes and watching her imagination turn a few beloved stuffed animals into a whole world of friendship, fun, and adventure.”

“Imagine This” will run from September 2, 2026 through September 30, 2026. It is an invitation to pause and look beyond the obvious where each work offers a starting point but the viewers imagination completes the experience.
